(Tokai Gakki), a musical instrument manufacturer headquartered in Shizuoka Prefecture, began making electric guitars in 1968 and established its own brand, "Tokai," in 1977. The long-established Tokai is highly supported not only in Japan but also overseas due to its high quality, and produces original guitars made entirely in Japan, from wood selection and processing to assembly, as well as OEM production for famous brands such as Schecter. Older instruments are now highly regarded as vintage items, and the company continues to produce wonderful instruments today with the same reliable craftsmanship that inherited the instrument-making methods of the time. The particularly popular Les Paul type is designed based on data measured from a 1959 vintage Les Paul, and the neck joint part is cut out using a large NC router relative to the body, and then cut out to the exact size by hand, using Tokai's craftsmanship. When inserted into the body, the high-precision woodworking technology that lifts the body even without adhesive is impressive. Furthermore, it uses a traditional adhesive method called "glue glue", which is also used in Gibson's high-end Custom Shop models. [LC216S-CM CS] This model is a special order from our store, based on the Les Paul Custom type "LC156S" from the Vintage Series, a purely Japanese series where everything from wood selection and processing to assembly is done by Japanese craftsmen. The wood material is flame maple + maple body top, and mahogany is used for the body back and neck. The fingerboard was upgraded from rosewood to ebony, which is a nod to the original, as it was the year of the Les Paul Custom's revival. The neck is thick and has a shape that is characteristic of a Les Paul, and you can experience a thick sound that you can't get with a thin neck. The color is cherry sunburst, which was a rare color in the early 70s. The knobs were customized by our shop from the normal speed knobs to vintage-inspired sombrero knobs, and the pegs were also custom ordered from Grover type to Kluson type. The guitar is finished with gold hardware, multi-layer binding, and special inlays, and the beautiful grain of the flame maple gives it a luxurious feel. As mentioned above, we use hide glue for adhesion. Hide glue is a natural adhesive that dries quickly and becomes stronger as it dries, and the original sound of the instrument is brought out as you use it. It is equipped with a humbucking pickup "PAF-Vintage MK2S" that reproduces the sound of the original PAF, and by setting the output low, it makes the most of the potential of the instrument itself. It produces a low-power, wide-range vintage sound with just the right amount of separation, making it a high-quality sound that is easy to use and useful in any genre of music.
