Description: RARE LOWESTOFT PORCELAIN SHALLOW BOWL IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE ORIENTAL SCENE c1772 RARE LOWESTOFT PORCELAIN SHALLOW BOWL IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE ORIENTAL SCENE c1772 Click images to enlarge Description A Lowestoft shallow bowl or plate 8" in diameter & 1 3/4" tall at the rim. I purchased this bowl at the auction of Henry Levine's collection at Norwich on 25th November 1982. The bowl was hand thrown and so exhibits some slight uneveness in rim height. The bowl has stilt marks on the rim which is a feature of Lowestoft items which were placed inverted in the kiln. The catalog description for this bowl was as follows :- Lot 56. 'A saucer shaped plate decorated with a transfer print of an Oriental landscape of pagodas, the foreground brushed in and with a printed cellular and foliate border'. The bowl is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. The last picture shows the front cover of the auction catalog. If you have any questions please email.
