This is the first printing of this novel. When the continent of Fara Lothion is invaded, by an immense foreign army allied with a vampire lord, only the legend of Lothion's armor. imbued with the power of the gods, can save the land. The Kingdom of Harwind has fallen, over-run by the armies from the continent of Xarx Thraxos and its vampire allies. The vampires swarmed the castle dealing death and destruction in an endless wave of brutality, while instantly reinforcing their numbers with the infected castles denizens. An unending darkness has fallen over the continent of Fara Lothion as the invading forces continue to spread. The only hope of salvation lay in the legend of the continent's namesake Lothion and his immensely powerful armor. The land must rely on its next generation of heroes to emerge and reunite Lothion's armor. Only when each piece has been recovered and the power within has been discovered will the heroes have a chance to strike balance into the overwhelming chaos. Excerpt: Fire exploded from Xandra’s fingertips, engulfing the front central ring of noble vampires. Their bodies flashed as the flames engulfed them, charring their bodies to ash. The guards used this temporary opening to charge on ahead, pushing over the ashen corpses which smashed to pieces as they hit the floor. Cole shouldered the closest standing vampire, knocking it to the ground. The guards fought their way through the rest of the ring to the outside. Elias watched Xandra blink from existence to turn around and see her standing between the marble pillars. He smiled grimly and said, "Blasted sorceress.” "Run! To the courtyards! Maybe we can join up with the rest of the guard," Xandra shouted. The noble vampires followed quickly behind them, hissing and shrieking. Halfway down the hall, Xandra watched as the courtyard door began to open and a troop of guards stepped through with their swords at the ready. Thank Lothion, Xandra thought, as she raced towards them. "Guards! Incoming foe...right... behind... us...." Xandra’s voice broke to a whisper. The first of the guard to enter from the courtyard marched slowly in and lifted his head; inside his steel helm all you could see were two dark red globes flashing back. Their movement seemed like slow motion to the shocked sorceress, the thud of their boots matching the ever-increasing volume of the small group’s hearts. Sweat dripped from Xandra’s brow as the hopelessness of their situation began to fill her. She had a few spells left in her reserve but not enough to defeat all of these enemies, nor enough to magically teleport the rest of these men out of here. Xandra turned and looked into the eyes of Elias; he understood from her sorrowful gaze what she had to do. "Go!" he said, waving his hand. "You must warn the rest of the region, we will hold them.” She mouthed the words, "Thank you" to him, tears welling in the corner of her eyes. "Portalis," Xandra said and with a wave of her hand, the magical shimmering white door rose behind her. The sorceress reluctantly stepped through and vanished from existence once again. The three guards stood back to back, circling as the vampire horde advanced. Elias could feel Tomas shivering as their shoulders touched, and knew that he had just enough time to say something inspiring to his men before their fates caught up with them. "Today, men, you are heroes and I am proud to have served with both of you; let us show them what Harwinians are made of!" He felt Tomas still and strengthen his stance. Elias let a smile touch his face one last time before the vampires advanced on both sides.... Xandra reappeared outside the eastern side of the castle, the rain pouring down in sheets instantly drenching her. As she turned, horrific screaming began from the direction of the great hall. She ran for the forest, thinking, I must reach the surrounding villages to warn them of what has happened, and then onto the Kingdom of Gashar where they may be able to mount a defense. Her grim determination faded from her eyes as she began to sob. It was gone, all gone in an instant, she thought. She should have done something; there must have been something more she could have done to help prevent this. Her tears falling with every step mingled with mud as she ran for her life.
