If doing a brush replacement, magneto service, or stator cleaning on your Onan KV Series Micro Lite or Micro Quiet 2.5/2.8 generator, replace the rotor while this area is disassembled for extra assurance of reliable electrical generation on your RV or other mobile application. Replace the rotor if any of these bench test measurements are true: Ground test: Less than 1 megaohm; Slip ring continuity: no continuity (a high resistance reading with continuity while doing this test may indicate a poor connection or open winding which also warrants rotor replacement); Shorted windings: less than 16 ohms across the slip rings at 77F/22C. Another service measurement on the rotor is the rotor bearing spacing from the collector ring assembly. If the bearing is 0.14 inches (3.5 mm) or closer to the collector ring assembly, arcing may occur.
