However, it requires great skill to throw the bundle at tanks in such a way that the delay fuse ignites just as the bundle is driven over. Effect When the hand grenade detonates, a strong air pressure wave occurs due to the explosive gases that suddenly form. The head and handle of the hand grenade are broken up into many small fragments. The fragments are fatal within a radius of 15 m or cause more or less serious injuries. Only a few fragments fly beyond 15 m. The air pressure wave is fatal within a radius of about 6 m or causes organ damage. The effect of the air pressure is even greater in enclosed spaces.
