MICHAEL AMMAR Greater Magic Library volume 6 -- published by Twin Cities Magic undated, but circa 2009 (footage from the 1980's, from the original Steven's Greater Magic Video Library) In the early 1980's, Michael Ammar took the magic world by storm. Yes, of course, he won FISM. But it was his appearances on Johnny Carson, and his lectures at many local magic clubs that made him a magical household name.On this DVD, you can see Ammar working some of his best routines for a studio audience, and although the video production values seem rudimentary compared to those that came over the next 3+ decades, they were state of the art at the time, and give a great view of Ammar at work.His opener on the DVD, Fireball, is a barehand vanish of a bouncing rubber ball, which many of us now know how he does, or at least what he uses to make it happen. But I recall seeing him do this at a local lecture in 1982 (before his favorite utilty device was well-known to magicians) and I thought I had witnessed trick photography in real life!Also included on this DVD are his amazingly smooth and magical Cups and Balls, and his great handling of the classic Silk and Egg trick. The DVD is rounded out with a couple of card items, included The Well-Hung Card, which was a feature item in the rare book, "Brainstorm in the Bahamas" that Ammar put together with Paul Harris, Daryl, and Adam Fleischer. Get this DVD for a glimpse of Ammar's early talent, and to get some great routines to add to your repertoire.Check out the photo of the DVD back cover for details. Retail on this DVD is $30.
