General Description: Widely cultivated ornamental plant often given in early spring, around Easter time. It?s a cross between Hatiora gaertneri and Hatiora rosea. Hardiness Zone: 10 to 11 Maintenance: Low Mature Height: 12 to 18 inches Mature Width: 9 to 12 inches Plant Details: Growth Habit: Shrub-like, drooping cactus with a woody base. Slow growth. Leaf Structure: N/A Stem Structure: Each stem is made up of segments, most of which are flattened. They have rounded margins with bristles at the tips. Younger segments are dullish green, measuring 1 ½ to 3 inches long with small notches on the edges. Within the notches are where the flowers form, an area called areoles. Bark Structure: As this plant matures, it develops into a branching pendant, leafless shrub. Soil Preference: Loam. Well-drained. Watering Preference: Medium. They will drop stem segments if over- or under-watered. Cut back watering in late autumn to early winter to help promote the next season's flowering cycle. Sunlight Preference: Partial shade is best.
